The standout suite experience of the entire Hanoi boutique series — two floors, two balconies, two bathrooms, and arguably the best rooftop bar in the Old Quarter.
The La Siesta Classic Ma May sets itself apart from every other boutique in this Hanoi series before you even finish the room tour. A surprise upgrade at check-in — extended without any loyalty status attached, purely through friendly interaction with the front desk team — resulted in a two-floor split-level suite that is genuinely unlike anything else reviewed across eight Old Quarter boutique stays.
The suite spans two levels connected by an interior staircase. The lower floor has the entrance closet — slippers, laundry bag, hairdryer, robes, and shelving — a coffee and tea setup with proper cups and spoons, a minibar with space left for personal items, a couch, a TV, luggage storage, and a first balcony with table and chairs. The lower bathroom has a shower, bum gun, toiletries, and towels. The upper floor has a king bed with generous space — notable in Southeast Asia where room sizes are unpredictable — a proper desk and dedicated chair, a second TV, a second tea and coffee setup, a second minibar, a second safe, and a second balcony with table and chairs. The upper bathroom adds a deep soaking tub to the shower setup, plus a second hairdryer and safe.
Two balconies — one per floor — is a detail not seen in any previous hotel in this series. Both have outdoor seating and represent a genuine quality of life upgrade for extended stays.
The La Siesta also stands out for amenities that most Old Quarter boutiques simply don’t offer. The gym, located on the same floor as the spa, has treadmills, an elliptical, free weights, and a bench — functional and adequate for guests who want to maintain a routine. The on-site spa allows guests to book treatments without leaving the property.
The breakfast dining room is larger than the typical Old Quarter boutique — easier to navigate and film, with a proper spread of buffet items, fruit, desserts, cereal, juice, and coffee alongside the standard à la carte made-to-order eggs and pho.
The rooftop sky bar is the strongest in the series. Multiple levels, multiple seating configurations — bar seating, high tops, standard tables — a bridge with lighting, and views over the surrounding historic neighborhood. Live music on Friday evenings. Non-alcoholic options available for guests who don’t drink. The evening breeze and the quality of the space make it easy to understand why rooftop bars are such a defining feature of Old Quarter hotels.
Staff across the entire stay were exceptional — the upgrade was unexpected and unprompted, and the service level throughout matched the quality of the room.
A compact but comfortable Old Quarter boutique with a multi-level rooftop bar and jacuzzi.
A comfortable, well-equipped boutique in one of Hanoi's best walkable locations.
Adds a rooftop bar to the standard Old Quarter boutique formula — and in Hanoi's heat, that evening space is worth more than it sounds.
