A solid Old Quarter boutique elevated by genuinely attentive staff.
The JM Marvel Hotel and Spa covers the expected ground for a Hanoi Old Quarter boutique and distinguishes itself with one standout quality: the staff. From the welcome cup of tea on arrival to consistent check-ins throughout the stay to ensure everything was to standard, the service level here was exceptional and worth calling out explicitly.
The room is comfortable and well-sized for the category — a king bed with plenty of space to move around, nice decor, a balcony overlooking the action of the street below, a table and chairs for working, tea and coffee setup with mini fridge and minibar underneath, a closet with safe, robes, extra comforter, and slippers, and a luggage area near the door. The bathroom is functional and clean throughout — compact counter space at the sink, toilet, and shower.
An on-site spa sits just outside the front entrance below the lobby level. An ATM is also on site, though it was down during the stay and appeared to be getting serviced close to check-out.
Breakfast is a step above average for the category. The hot buffet and standard made-to-order egg setup is supplemented here by French toast and pancakes that are worth ordering. The French toast in particular was good enough to go back for a second order — a genuine highlight in a breakfast lineup that can start to feel repetitive across eight boutique stays. Coffee and tea available, with a comfortable seating area.
The hotel also has a rooftop bar, consistent with roughly half the boutiques covered in this series.
The standout suite experience of the entire Hanoi boutique series — two floors, two balconies, two bathrooms, and arguably the best rooftop bar in the Old Quarter.
A compact but comfortable Old Quarter boutique with a multi-level rooftop bar and jacuzzi.
A comfortable, well-equipped boutique in one of Hanoi's best walkable locations.
