Vancouver Airport Marriott

The Vancouver Airport Marriott is a step up from the mid-range airport hotel options in Richmond, and it earns that distinction in a few meaningful ways. Marriott Bonvoy status was recognized with a suite upgrade and — more importantly for a stay built around an 11 PM departure — a 4:00 PM late checkout. For long-haul travelers with evening flights, that flexibility is genuinely valuable and harder to find than it should be.

The suite is spacious and well laid out, with a comfortable living area, separate bedroom, multiple seating options, a small balcony, coffee and tea setup, mini fridge, microwave, robes, iron and ironing board, and plenty of closet space and hangers. The safe is tucked under one of the seats rather than in the closet — slightly unintuitive but functional once you know where it is. The bedroom is a little cozier than the living space but the bed is comfortable, which is what matters most before a long flight. Bathroom has a smaller sink area but a genuinely spacious shower — a notable positive.

The gym is split across two rooms which makes it feel smaller than it is on first impression — machines in one room, free weights, exercise balls, and floor space in the other. Plenty of towels in both. The outdoor pool and jacuzzi were in use during filming — clean and well set up.

Lounge access with Marriott status adds real value here. Evening offerings included spring rolls, meat and cheese, and drinks including alcohol. Morning lounge breakfast covered omelets, hash browns, bacon, sausage, fresh fruit, pastries, cereal, and coffee. The main breakfast area runs a parallel spread for non-lounge guests. The lounge was quiet during the visit, making for a comfortable and relaxed experience in both sessions.

Airport shuttle was used without issues.
