This Holiday Inn Melaka review covers an eight day stay while filming for Crash Course Hotels — one of the longer stays in the catalogue and long enough to get a thorough feel for the property.
The pool area is the standout feature — the view out over the Malacca Strait is genuinely impressive and makes it one of the better pool settings I have come across. The hotel also has a spa for anyone looking to unwind, and the gym covers the basics.
The room is a good size with a comfortable bed and a choice of soft or firm pillows — a small detail that makes a difference on a longer stay.
The location requires a bit of planning. Getting into town and to Taming Sari involves crossing via an underpass which is less convenient than it sounds. The hotel runs a free shuttle service to help with this — recommended to book in advance as it only runs every two hours. The mall is around a 15 minute walk.
That said, for anyone visiting Melaka’s historic area the location works well overall and the shuttle takes the edge off the underpass inconvenience.
A solid choice for families or anyone wanting a comfortable base to explore one of Malaysia’s most historic cities.
