The Review

This Holiday Inn Express Bangkok Soi Soonvijai review covers one of the most memorable budget stays of my slow travel journey — not because of luxury amenities, but because of the people running it.

I arrived here during my second week of slow travel, having just experienced the Bangkok earthquake. Shaken and still finding my feet, this hotel gave me exactly what I needed to regroup and continue the journey. That context probably colors my view, but I have since met multiple other slow travelers who feel the same way about this place independently — so it is not just sentiment.

The breakfast covers more ground than most budget hotels attempt — Western, Eastern and Indian options all under one roof. Lunch, dinner and drinks are available downstairs and represent excellent value. Amenities include a gym and self-service laundry. There is no pool, but a rooftop garden makes for a decent spot to wind down with a drink at the end of the day.

What genuinely sets this property apart is the staff. They checked whether laundry was dry and offered a free token if it was not. One desk clerk came outside specifically to say goodbye when I checked out — and knew me by name. That level of attention to detail is rare at any price point, let alone at a budget hotel. Larger properties with far more resources could learn something from how this team operates.

The management here deserves real credit. Highly recommended.
