A complete beachfront resort with exceptional lounge, multiple pools, tennis courts and two weeks worth of reasons to stay
This Hyatt Regency Kuantan Resort review covers a two week stay at one of the most complete resort properties in the Crash Course Hotels catalog — and one that genuinely surprised me with how much there is to do without ever leaving the grounds.
The resort sits directly on the beach on Malaysia’s east coast. The vibe is relaxed and peaceful — a genuine contrast to the city hotel stays that make up most of the catalog. Direct beach access, multiple swimming pools including family-friendly areas, kids’ play areas and plenty of green space make this one of the most comprehensively equipped properties reviewed so far.
The room is well laid out with good storage, a proper workspace, a solid bathroom setup and a balcony. One important note — the local wildlife is active around the property. Monkeys are a regular presence and worth being aware of when leaving balcony doors open.
The fitness center is spacious with locker rooms and a sauna. Tennis and paddle ball courts add sporting options that most hotels simply don’t offer. The breakfast with beachside seating is one of the more enjoyable morning experiences in the catalog — the setting does a lot of the work.
The Hyatt Regency Club lounge deserves special mention. The freshly cooked snacks became something of a daily ritual over two weeks — the kind of lounge offering that genuinely adds value to the stay rather than just existing for appearances.
Outside the resort a local market area, coffee shops and fast food options including a beachside McDonald’s are within walking distance — practical for anyone wanting variety beyond the resort restaurants.
A standout resort stay on Malaysia’s east coast — particularly well suited for Hyatt points redemptions.
