The suite upgrade through IHG status set the tone immediately — large, well laid out with plenty of storage, a wardrobe closet, and a separate bathroom and shower with rain shower head and premium toiletries. The kind of room that makes an eight night stay feel genuinely comfortable rather than just tolerable.
The views of the Strait of Malacca are a consistent highlight throughout the property. The fitness center looks out over the Straits and the Penang Bridge — making it one of the more scenic gym settings in the catalog. Sunset shots around the property are worth building time into your day for.
Breakfast is generous and well put together — fresh fruits, salads, made-to-order eggs and noodle stations covering both local and Western preferences. The lobby and reception area are impressive from the moment you walk in, setting an expectation the rest of the property largely lives up to.
The lounge delivers on the views but falls slightly short on offerings compared to other properties in the IHG portfolio — particularly when measured against the exceptional lounges encountered in Vietnam. Worth using for the setting, but manage expectations on the food and drink selection.
